The Trump campaign announced on Sunday that former President Donald Trump “is safe” following reports of gunshots in his vicinity.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity,” stated Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director. “No further details at this time.”

The statement did not provide additional information, including President Trump’s location at the time of the incident or if the shots were directed at him. The campaign has not responded to requests for further comment on Sunday.
Local reports indicate that the shots were fired near the Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
This incident follows a previous attempt on President Trump’s life during a rally on July 13. During that event, a would-be assassin fired multiple shots at Trump as he spoke, striking him in the ear. The attack resulted in one fatality and two injuries. The shooter was killed shortly after firing at the former president. Federal and state law enforcement officials have yet to disclose a motive for the shooter.
In the wake of the July incident, concerns were raised about the U.S. Secret Service’s preparedness to secure the rally, which was held in Butler, Pennsylvania. Kimberly Cheatle, then-director of the Secret Service, resigned following the incident.
Multiple investigations have since been launched, including inquiries by Congress, the White House, and the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
