Authorities in southeast London are actively investigating the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy, locally known as “Grippa,” on a Woolwich bus.
The attack happened on January 7, around 2:30 p.m., aboard a Route 472 bus. Although emergency responders treated the boy at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Community Shock and Mourning
“Grippa,” an aspiring rapper, had recently shared his music online. Fans and friends flooded social media with tributes. One person described him as a “young talent lost to senseless violence.”
A close friend shared their grief, stating, “He was a kind, talented person. It’s hard to believe this has happened.”
A Series of Related Incidents
Police are examining whether the attack connects to other recent violence in the area. In September, another teen lost his life to a stabbing in the same neighborhood. Similarly, on January 6, someone critically injured an 18-year-old in a separate knife attack near a local college. That college has temporarily shut down in response.
Calls for Community Support
Mark Rodney, a youth crime prevention advocate, expressed his devastation. He emphasized the urgent need for communities to find solutions and end the cycle of violence.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan condemned the tragedy, calling it unacceptable. He urged residents to assist the investigation and to share any useful information.
To strengthen their efforts, police have increased patrols in the area. Investigators encourage anyone with information to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
