Caitlin Clark continues to make headlines as she shatters records. On Sunday, the Indiana Fever rookie achieved a new milestone by breaking the WNBA single-season rookie scoring record in a thrilling 110-109 victory over the Dallas Wings.
Clark, who finished the game with a career-high 35 points, now boasts a total of 761 points this season, surpassing the previous rookie record of 744 points set by Seimone Augustus in 2006. Augustus, a Hall-of-Famer, held the record during her rookie season with the Minnesota Lynx.
The game was intensely close, with the Wings trailing by just two points in the final moments. However, Fever center Aliyah Boston sealed the win with two free throws as time expired. Despite Dallas forward Satou Sabally’s buzzer-beating three-pointer, it wasn’t enough to secure the victory for the Wings.
Alongside her record-breaking performance, Clark contributed three rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. She also made six three-pointers, narrowly missing her career high.
Kelsey Mitchell supported Clark with 27 points for the Fever, while Sabally and Arike Ogunbowale both scored 27 points for the Wings.
Clark has been rewriting the record books this season, not only breaking rookie records but also setting new WNBA benchmarks. In August, she set records for rookie assists and three-pointers. Just this Friday, she surpassed the WNBA single-season assist record, adding to her impressive achievements that also include a single-game assist record of 19, set earlier this year against the Wings.
